We know what you’re thinking — “Life in my Littleton apartment is hard to beat, so why should I go on a road trip?” The truth is that although Littleton is indeed one of the best cities in Colorado, there are plenty of wonderful things to see if you’re willing to explore a little bit.
That’s why in today’s post we’d like to share a few suggestions on where you can go for a summer road trip. Summer is the perfect time to get out and explore, after all, and no matter what you like to do for fun, we think you’ll find quite a few great options that catch your eye below. If you’d like to end the summer on a fun note, keep reading to learn more!
Colorado’s Best Road Trip Destination
An hour-and-a-half drive up US-36 will put you in Estes Park, one of Colorado’s most charming little mountain towns. There’s plenty to do here, so whether you’d like to go fishing or do some shopping, you have several options. One must-visit location is the Stanley Hotel, which is famously (or infamously) known as the inspiration for Stephen King’s The Shining. It’s certainly worth exploring even if you don’t like scary movies thanks to its rich history and beautiful details throughout.
If you’d like to make a day trip, Georgetown is a great option. A little less than an hour in the car will put you at the home of the Georgetown Loop Railroad, which is a must-visit destination here in Colorado. The train ride will take a total of half an hour round trip, but you can also opt to stop and enjoy a mine tour. Make sure to have your phone’s camera ready, because you’ll find several opportunities for beautiful pictures!
If you’re willing to go past Georgetown, another 45 minutes or so in the car will put you in Breckenridge. Riding the BreckConnect Gondola is free in the summer and will provide you with stunning views. When you’re done, be sure to head into town and enjoy your pick of incredible restaurants. Trust us when we say that you should be sure to stop at Stir-Pan Creamery for dessert so you can enjoy a unique take on a beloved summer classic.
Home to some of the state’s most-beloved microbreweries, Fort Collins is another great destination for those looking for a change of pace. Whether you’re in the mood for a meal at a unique restaurant or a trip to Horsetooth Reservoir, Fort Collins has a lot to offer. And, of course, since it’s a college town, it’s a lot easier to get things done when all of the students are gone for the summer, making it a win/win.
Come Home to the Comfort of a Luxury Apartment
Taking a road trip in the summer can be a blast, and exploring the Centennial State is always a blast, but the truth is that there’s nothing in the world quite like coming home. At Summit Riverside Apartments in Littleton, we’re happy to offer a comfortable and cozy atmosphere for our tenants. When you’re done venturing out on a summer adventure, you can come back home to the central air in your apartment, make yourself a meal on the stainless steel appliances, and take it easy on your patio or balcony.
We’ll also admit that it can be hard to want to leave in the first place thanks to all of our incredible amenities. With plenty of nearby bike trails, you can explore without going far from home. We also have a new clubhouse, a 24-hour fitness center, an internet cafe, a full-size basketball court, a playground, and an outdoor saltwater pool that’s heated! It really doesn’t get much better than that.
