3 Tips for a Cozy Weekend Indoors

Load Up on Food

The perfect weekend indoors starts with the right snacks. After all, one of the biggest reasons that people can start to feel stir crazy is because they don’t have good food in their apartments. Luckily, if you plan ahead a little bit, you can have all of the food you need to be cozy for the entire weekend.

You’ll want plenty of snacks for every craving. That means you should cover all of your bases and get plenty of sweets as well as some savory snacks. You should also plan what you’re going to eat for all of your meals. Our suggestion is to pick some comfort food that’s perfect for the cold weather and enjoy it! Whether that means baking a lasagna, cooking the chili recipe that’s been handed down in your family for generations, or finding a new dish to try online, having the right foods for every part of your weekend is definitely the way to go. And hey, if you don’t want a bunch of food in your apartment after the weekend, you could always bring whatever’s left into work with you.

Make a Movie List

How many movies are there that you want to see that you’ve just never gotten around to watching? If you’re like most people out there, you’ll have quite the extensive list. It’s hard enough keeping up with current movies; add in the backlog of classics that you’ve always wanted to watch and some recent films that you haven’t gotten to yet and it can be pretty overwhelming.

Our advice is to make a list of what you want to see this weekend and start doing some research now. Check Netflix, Amazon, and Hulu for movies that are included with services you’re already subscribing to. If there are movies that aren’t available there, check with your local library (yes, they allow you to borrow movies!) or check out the nearest Redbox. Either way, planning now means you’ll save yourself the hassle of having to go out this weekend.

No matter what’s on your list, come up with a plan to figure out how many movies you’d like to watch, calculate their run times, and get to watching. There’s nothing like getting caught up on all the movies you’ve been wanting to see, and a cold weekend is one of the most perfect times to do it!

Take a Nap

When is the last time your day included a nap? For most people, getting a full eight hours of sleep each night is hard enough. We get it — people are busy with work, family activities, trips, and more. It can mean that you don’t really get 20 minutes to spare in a normal day.

The good news is that this weekend isn’t a normal day. It’s two days where you’re staying in and treating yourself!

One of the best things you can do is to settle in for a nap. Or two. Or more! It’s really up to you, but if you’re using the weekend to relax while it’s cold outside, we think that it just makes sense to rest up while you have the opportunity. Whether that means a short nap on the couch or a snooze fest back in your bed, make sure to have plenty of blankets on hand. You could even consider running the essential oil diffuser or your humidifier to really take good care of yourself. Hey, if you’re going to nap on the weekend, you might as well make sure it’s a good one, right?
