3 Things to Do In Your Apartment This Weekend

Cook For Yourself

What does the average week of meals look like for you? If you’re like most people, you probably enjoy a combination of frozen pizzas, home cooked meals, and fast food. That’s totally okay! Life is all about finding a balance. In other words, although you probably enjoy cooking for yourself sometimes, you can’t do it as often as you’d like too because life is just too busy.

Here’s the good news — the weekend is the perfect time to make a couple of meals for yourself. Our advice? Go big! Really treat yourself to something delicious and you’ll thank yourself for it. Best of all is that you don’t have to be a master chef to enjoy making something really great. Whether you’re an avid chef or you feel lost in the kitchen, you can create a dish that’s so incredibly wonderful that you’ll wonder why you don’t make it more often.

Find Something to Watch

Whether you have Netflix, Hulu, HBO, or one (or all!) of the other streaming services, chances are that you’re not lacking things to watch. Unfortunately, sometimes you can get home at the end of the day and just feel totally wiped out. It’s easy to find yourself in a routine where you get home, changed into comfy clothes, and turn on Friends or The Office for the dozenth time.

There’s nothing wrong with that, of course, because people often turn to the shows that they know because they’re comforting. When you’re home this weekend, however? Try something new! It’s easy to fall into a streaming routine that you can’t break out of, and it can feel really overwhelming to even attempt to find something new.

Thankfully, there are plenty of great options out there and it’s often as simple as giving something an episode or two to decide if you like it or not. If not, no harm done. If you do find something you like, you may have just found a new favorite show! It doesn’t get much better than that.

A Few Things to Consider Streaming

Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee on Netflix

Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee is hosted by Jerry Seinfeld, and as its name suggests, it’s a show about two comedians hopping into a unique car (chosen by Seinfeld for his guest) and having a conversation over a cup of coffee. It’s disarmingly simple and infinitely charming — even if you’re not familiar with his guests.

Castle Rock on Hulu

Stephen King is having something of a renaissance, and Castle Rock is no exception. Based on some of King’s most famous works, Castle Rock is set in the fictional town of Castle Rock, Maine. It’s packed with fun nods to King’s books and films, and it’s full of spooky suspense, making it a great way to spend your time this weekend.

Barry on HBO

With numerous awards under its belt, Barry returned for its second season recently. Starting (and created by) Saturday Night Live alum Bill Hader, it’s a show about a hitman who finds himself intrigued by life as an actor. Needless to say, it’s strange and interesting at every step of the way, and its many great performances help to keep things on track until it all goes off the rails in the most interesting way possible.

Take a Nap

Last, but most certainly not least, why not take a nap? After all, when is the last time you set aside some time to do nothing but close the blinds and curl up in bed for a short (or not so short) nap?

It’s a truly wonderful feeling to doze off in the middle of the day and wake up feeling refreshed, renewed, and ready to tackle the rest of your relaxing weekend.

Don’t believe that a nap is the perfect way to spend a portion of your weekend? Studies have shown time and time again that naps are beneficial for your health, helping to boost your creativity, lower stress levels, brighten your mood, and lower your blood pressure. There are many other advantages to look into, but perhaps the biggest one is that naps just feel good! Need we say more than that?
